Nothing stands still...

And still further proof of that could be a spectacular example of DEVOID band whose appearance in Russian rock-circles was marked by 1996 release of NOTHING UNUSUAL album.

The stylistics of this creation emphasises encounter of diametrical opposites attracted (as is the common case with the opposites) in 1995. And it is this combination of incombinable that has imparted to the group a special colouring so advantageously distinguishing Devoid from many others.

Creation of the above album was preceded by a long and laborious work of the first constant team of Devoid (SABONIS - guitar, CANADA - bass-guitar, Mr. INDIAN - percussion and BAAZ - vocal), that endeavoured to try its power in this field.

With releasing the LP the team commenced its concert activity in Moscow . Our Northern Capital, St.-Petersburg, was not left by their attention either (TAM-TAM Club).

In a while the team's bass Canada quits. Sacred place is however never vacant and very soon it was taken by an ANDY-JESUS.

In 1997, the band makes a new programme FILLERS OF THE VOID, where the guys record cover-version of David Bowie's ASHES to ASHES named MAJOR'S ARRIVAL.

The band's style acquired the outlines of Funk Metal.

Experimenting with sound did not allow staying with a single music trend and in 1998 a programme 98 is born.

Same spring, the team's bass Andy also quits. Oh, yes, Devoid was quite unlucky with bass-guitarists. Finally, by trial & error the band found MEFODY from JUMP OR DEAD that integrated into the Devoid team and style to such extent that he seemed to have played with them forever.

At almost the same time the exclusively masculine team of Devoid was somewhat softened by a female. Tatiana Mureiko, the keys, has smoothly joined the team, which fact could not but tell on the band's music.

The renewed team of Devoid extends the list of it's concert halls, where now emerge such Moscow Clubs as DIAMOND, GOLDEN PUDDLE, U-2, renowned SVALKA and others.

The last year of the millennium was celebrated by recording in Boris Oppengeim Studio of a mini album REVO where the starry subjects with the dawning Gothic elements and a delicate patina of depression got more distinctly outlined. This turned to be the starting-point in further progress in the band's creative work.

The group go on with their experiments and in the course of time in the originally purely English-language Devoid repertoire one more and more often hears Russian texts: Rechi, Dnevniki Anny, Nervy S.Dali, Gaya, etc., and the song STARS from REVO album is visualised by a video sequence.

But the reefs of creative disagreements make themselves felt once again, the keys quit leaving the team's men to themselves. She is shortly but much more painfully followed by the vocals that has carried away the majority of texts (it should be noted that the verbalisation of the images cast by the music was the BAAZ business) and also seized up a couple of popular tunes at that.

After a short respite, for it is not too easy to find a good vocal, the one that would also write songs, and also in English, Devoid is back in the ranks, on stage, and microphone and verbal filling of the band's music is now in the hands of ANTONY.

The more and more active concert activity of the team makes the Devoiders to the maximum open to proposals from those that care for the band's creativity and are ready to render any assistance in promotion of these gifted creative people on the music arena.

Thorny and hard is their way but as the ancient Romans would say: Per aspera ad astra, through the thorns to the stars. So maybe their path filled by songs of stars would become really starry and get them to stars.
